Your business can't run without you. We build the operations so it can.

More owner time.

Many owners are the bottleneck in their own company. You’re closing deals, managing people, putting out fires, and dreaming about stepping back one day.

Most of the 6 million small businesses facing an ownership transition by 2035 will close, not sell, because they are too dependent on the owner.

We create more owner time so that you can grow and sell your business. We quantify what's broken, map where time and money are leaking, and build systems that let the business thrive without you at the center.

Our fractional COOs deliver results that actually matter, without the commitment of a full-time employee.

  • Perhaps what stood out most throughout the entire process was their patience and professionalism. Organizational change can be challenging, but their collaborative approach made the transition feel manageable. They took the time to listen, understand our unique challenges, and guide us through each step with confidence and expertise.

  • I cannot say enough positive things about Artful Concern. They are a company that genuinely cares about the businesses they work with and treats everyone with respect, kindness, and professionalism. My experience with them has been exceptional. Alicia took the time to sit down with me and truly listen to everything I had to say—both the good and the bad. She never judged me or dismissed my concerns. Instead, she made me feel heard, understood, and valued.

  • As COO, she was the right-hand to the new CEO and played a crucial role in translating [the] mission into a robust operating model that supported the evolved strategy… The impact of such initiatives were data-driven strategic shifts, a highly successful fundraise, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from key stakeholders—including investors, customers, and employees. Her strategic foresight and guidance were instrumental during a period of remarkable business transformation, demonstrating her deep understanding of intricate business dynamics.

  • I would confidently recommend Artful Concern to any organization looking to improve operational structure, strengthen team communication, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. They were a tremendous asset to our organization, and I truly appreciate the impact they made during a pivotal time in our company's growth.

  • Alicia is a deeply trusted and dedicated executive leader who balances strategic thinking with operational excellence. She is adept at taking a differentiated concept, building out a customer-first solution and scaling the business through its many life cycles. Importantly, she is an expert at bringing others along and negotiating challenging business decisions on behalf of the company. There are few executives who I would trust as much to partner with in a business.

  • Time and again, I have personally seen her tackle difficult problems that don't have clear solutions. She's the kind of leader who can see the big picture, plan for the future, and then adeptly communicate and execute on those plans to make sure every detail is accounted for. One of our biggest projects involved opening a factory in China. Alicia quickly built close relationships with our colleagues in China and was instrumental in getting the factory up and running in just a matter of months. She is the most organized thinker I have ever met and will often ask questions that make you wonder how she manages to think of everything.

"I can't take a real vacation without something falling apart."

If this sounds familiar, you don't have a people problem or a strategy problem.
You have an operations problem.

Fractional
COO / Integrator

You need an operational right-hand who shows up consistently, owns the week-to-week, and builds the business around your absence.

We plug into the business - interim or permanent - to help visionary owners stay focused on building what comes next.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

She's been inside more owner-operated businesses than most operators see in a career.

Alicia Diamond started at the operator level - running a regional chain of gelato cafes before the term "fractional COO" existed. She went on to lead operations at venture-backed technology companies across fintech, consumer brands, manufacturing, and software, where she learned what happens when you bring big-company discipline into a business that needs to move.

What she's carried into every engagement since: owners don't fail because they lack vision. They fail because no one ever built the business around them stepping back. That's the problem Artful Concern was built to solve.

Her clients describe her as someone who asks the questions they’ve been avoiding, makes every idea immediately actionable, and kicks their butt with accountability.

A fractional COO facilitates a leadership team through their weekly Level 10 meeting in a bright office with large windows and a whiteboard behind her.

We're honest about who we work with.

We help home services businesses, $5M to $30M in sales, to create more owner time.

We love working with ambitious owners who are serious about building a business that could run, scale, or sell without them at the center.

If you want a consultant to validate what you're already doing, we're probably not the right fit. If you want a partner who will tell you what's actually in the way, let's talk.
